Black/White Doll video

We had our inservice today, and talked a bit more about our goals for our anti bias work and this video came up that I really want to share with whoever is willing to watch it. Its a very powerful video about the continuing low self-esteem in young African American kids. Needless to say I was heartbroken by the time this video got through.

Wow. That was super sad. =(

I know I'm white, but I also know that racism in our society is still very present, even if it's not as neatly labeled as it was in the 60's. All you have to do is turn on the tv and see that nearly every commercial/show is like 90% white people. It's bullshit =(

I have gotten so bad at replying... yes this video made me cry. To see little girls identifying themselves as white when they are of a different race is pretty heartbreaking.

That's okay =) I guess I'd been concerned that the post I'd made about racism might have offended you somehow, but glad you hear you're just busy ;)
